Savoy cakes were traditionally left undecorated, with just a light sugar glaze to let the details of the cake mold shine through. Mine is flavored with grapefruit and lime zest and filled with grapefruit-flavored German buttercream. The cake is light and spongy with a tender crumb, and the citrus flavor is pleasantly fresh without being overly sweet.
